Copper sulphate is the conventional supplemental copper source. Copper is required for enzyme function, connective tissue and immune competence, and at higher inclusion it has a long established growth promoting effect in swine.

Regulatory ceilings on copper have tightened in many markets because of the environmental load in slurry, so check your destination limit before formulating. Sheep are notably sensitive to copper toxicity and require separate handling.

Where it is used

  • Swine diets, for growth and gut health
  • Poultry mineral supplementation
  • Mineral premixes
  • Ruminant supplementation, with species care

Formulation note

Set copper inclusion against your destination's legal maximum for each species, not just nutritional need. Pentahydrate and monohydrate grades differ in copper content, so compare offers on percent copper.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between copper sulphate pentahydrate and monohydrate?

The pentahydrate contains about 25 percent copper and the monohydrate about 35 percent. The monohydrate flows better in premixes, while the pentahydrate is the more common, lower cost form.

Is copper sulphate safe for sheep?

Sheep are very sensitive to copper toxicity. Feeds and premixes for sheep need separate formulation and careful control of copper levels.

Are there limits on copper in pig feed?

Yes. Many markets have tightened the maximum copper level in swine diets because of its environmental impact. Check the current limit in your country.

Tell us the product, the tonnage and the port
