Vitamin E
Vitamin E for animal feed, supplied from audited Chinese mills with a full specification and certificate of analysis on enquiry.
About this ingredient

Vitamin E is the primary lipid soluble antioxidant in animal tissue, protecting cell membranes from oxidative damage. It is closely linked with selenium, and a shortfall in either shows as similar muscle and immune problems.
In feed it is supplied as stabilised alpha tocopheryl acetate, which is far more stable through pelleting and storage than the free alcohol. It is also used at raised levels before slaughter to extend the shelf life and colour stability of meat.
Where it is used
- Immune support across species
- Meat quality and shelf life programmes
- Breeder and hatchery performance
- High fat diets, to protect against oxidation
Formulation note
Vitamin E is usually supplied as 50 percent alpha tocopheryl acetate powder. Use higher levels in finishing diets where meat shelf life and colour stability are valued.

Frequently asked questions
What form of vitamin E is used in feed?
Stabilised alpha tocopheryl acetate, commonly as a 50 percent powder, because it survives pelleting and storage better than free tocopherol.
How are vitamin E and selenium related?
Both protect cells from oxidative damage. A shortage of either can cause similar muscle and immune problems.
Does vitamin E improve meat quality?
Higher dietary vitamin E before slaughter can improve colour stability and shelf life of meat.
