Aspergillus niger is the industrial workhorse of feed enzyme production. It is the organism behind most commercial phytase, and behind a range of carbohydrases including xylanase, cellulase and pectinase.

In feed it is supplied either as the purified enzyme or as a dried fermentation product carrying mixed enzyme activity. Phytase is the one with the clearest economics, since it releases phytate bound phosphorus and cuts both the inorganic phosphate bill and the phosphorus load in manure. Ask for the activity units and the thermostability data.

Where it is used

  • Phytase supply, to release phytate bound phosphorus
  • Fibre degrading enzyme programmes in poultry
  • Swine diets, for nutrient release
  • Reducing phosphorus excretion

Formulation note

Enzyme products from Aspergillus niger should be bought on declared activity units, not on weight. Match the product to your process: a heat stable coated phytase for pelleted feed, or post pelleting liquid application where mill temperatures are high.

Specification on request

We have not published a full specification sheet for this ingredient yet. Send us your tonnage and destination port and we will return the complete specification, a recent certificate of analysis and a delivered price.

Buying Aspergillus Niger from China

  • Minimum order: one container.
  • Terms: FOB Chinese port or CIF your destination port.
  • Packing: standard export bags, with jumbo bags or custom packing on request.
  • Shelf life: 12 months when stored dry and sealed.
  • Quality: every lot is tested before shipment, and SGS, Intertek or CCIC inspection can be arranged at the load port.
  • Documents: certificate of analysis, commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin, plus health or phytosanitary certificates where your import rules require them.

Frequently asked questions

What is Aspergillus niger used for in animal feed?

It is the production organism behind most commercial phytase and several fibre degrading enzymes such as xylanase and cellulase. In feed it releases phytate bound phosphorus and improves nutrient release from plant ingredients.

What should I ask for when comparing Aspergillus niger enzyme products?

Ask for the guaranteed activity in units per gram, the assay method used, thermostability data at your pelleting temperature, and the guaranteed shelf life of that activity.

Can Aspergillus niger phytase reduce inorganic phosphate in the diet?

Yes. That is its main economic value. The phosphorus it releases allows part of the dicalcium or monocalcium phosphate to be removed, but the matrix value should be set by your nutritionist for your specific diet.

Tell us the product, the tonnage and the port

Send those three things and we come back with a delivered price, a full specification and a recent certificate of analysis. Usually the same working day.
