Bacterial Protein J90
Bacterial Protein J90 for animal feed, supplied from audited Chinese mills with a full specification and certificate of analysis on enquiry.
About this ingredient

Bacterial protein, sometimes called single cell protein, is produced by growing bacteria on a controlled substrate and then harvesting and drying the cell mass. It is a high concentration protein whose supply does not depend on arable land, fishing quotas or weather.
It is notably rich in nucleic acids and in B vitamins, and its amino acid profile is generally strong. Grade codes are producer specific rather than an industry standard, so confirm the process and the protein basis you are being quoted against.
Where it is used
- Aqua feed, as a fish meal alternative
- Piglet diets
- Pet food
- Poultry diets at controlled inclusion
Formulation note
Formulate bacterial protein on its true digestible amino acids rather than crude protein, because part of its nitrogen is in nucleic acids. Start at modest inclusion in aqua and young animal diets and raise it once performance data from your own trial is in.

Frequently asked questions
What is Bacterial Protein J90?
It is a single cell protein produced by fermentation, where bacteria are grown on a controlled substrate and then harvested and dried. J90 is the producer's grade code, not an industry standard.
Can bacterial protein replace fish meal?
It is used as a partial fish meal replacement in aqua feed and young animal diets. Full replacement is rarely practical because of nucleic acid content and cost, so it is normally one part of a protein blend.
Is bacterial protein approved in every market?
No. Single cell proteins are regulated differently by country, depending on the organism and substrate. Confirm the approval position in your destination before contracting.
Other proteins in the range

Hydrolyzed Feather Meal
Fully hydrolyzed keratin protein at 85% measured crude protein, the highest-protein ingredient in the range.

Pea Slurry Powder 68%
Zero-antigen plant protein with digestibility above 90% and a full amino acid profile. A direct plant-based route away from fish meal.

Chicken Liver Powder
A steam-dried palatability enhancer from fresh slaughterhouse liver. Protein and fat together exceed 75%.

Fermented Soybean Meal
Soybean meal upgraded by Bacillus subtilis, lactic acid bacteria and yeast. Antinutritional factors degraded, digestibility raised 20 to 30 percent.
