About this ingredient
Carvacrol is the main phenolic active in oregano oil, and among the most studied of the phytogenic compounds. It destabilises bacterial cell membranes, which gives broad activity against gram negative and gram positive gut pathogens.
It is usually supplied encapsulated or on a carrier so that it survives pelleting and releases lower down the gut rather than evaporating in the mill. Purity and the protection system are the two things to compare.
