About this ingredient

Dicalcium phosphate is the workhorse supplemental source of both calcium and phosphorus. Because plant phosphorus is largely bound as phytate and poorly available to monogastrics, a supplemental inorganic source is required in almost every poultry and swine diet not fully served by phytase.

The figures that matter are phosphorus content, calcium to phosphorus ratio, and biological availability, which varies with the manufacturing route. Fluorine is the contaminant to check on the certificate.

Where it is used

  • Poultry and swine diets, as the main phosphorus source
  • Dairy and beef mineral supplementation
  • Aqua feed
  • Mineral premixes

Formulation note

Formulate dicalcium phosphate on available phosphorus, and adjust it when phytase is used. Check fluorine on the certificate, because it is the key contaminant in phosphates made from rock phosphate.

Specification on request

We have not published a full specification sheet for this ingredient yet. Send us your tonnage and destination port and we will return the complete specification, a recent certificate of analysis and a delivered price.

Buying Dicalcium Phosphate from China

  • Minimum order: one container.
  • Terms: FOB Chinese port or CIF your destination port.
  • Packing: standard export bags, with jumbo bags or custom packing on request.
  • Shelf life: 12 months when stored dry and sealed.
  • Quality: every lot is tested before shipment, and SGS, Intertek or CCIC inspection can be arranged at the load port.
  • Documents: certificate of analysis, commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin, plus health or phytosanitary certificates where your import rules require them.

Frequently asked questions

What phosphorus content does feed grade dicalcium phosphate have?

Feed grade DCP typically contains around 17 to 18 percent phosphorus and about 20 percent or more calcium. Exact figures are confirmed on the certificate of analysis.

What is the difference between DCP and MCP?

Monocalcium phosphate contains more phosphorus with higher water solubility, while dicalcium phosphate has more calcium relative to phosphorus. The choice depends on your diet and price.

Why does fluorine matter in dicalcium phosphate?

Excess fluorine can harm bones and teeth. Feed grade phosphates are defluorinated, and the certificate should confirm fluorine is within limits.
