Encapsulated Vitamin C
Encapsulated Vitamin C for animal feed, supplied from audited Chinese mills with a full specification and certificate of analysis on enquiry.
About this ingredient

Ascorbic acid is synthesised by most farmed species, so it is not a classical dietary requirement, but that synthesis falls short under heat, transport, disease and other stress. Supplementation is aimed at those windows rather than at routine nutrition.
Unprotected ascorbic acid is destroyed quickly by moisture, heat and trace minerals, so the encapsulated or ethylcellulose coated form is what survives pelleting and storage. Fish, which cannot synthesise it at all, do require a dietary source.
Where it is used
- Heat stress programmes in poultry
- Aqua feed, where it is a dietary requirement
- Transport and handling stress
- Immune support during disease challenge
Formulation note
Use encapsulated vitamin C during specific stress windows, such as heat, transport or disease challenge, and as a routine requirement in fish feed. Compare products on retained activity after pelleting.

Frequently asked questions
Why use encapsulated vitamin C instead of plain ascorbic acid?
Plain ascorbic acid is quickly destroyed by heat, moisture and trace minerals. Encapsulation protects it through pelleting and storage.
Do fish need vitamin C in their feed?
Yes. Most farmed fish and shrimp cannot make vitamin C, so it is a dietary requirement in aqua feed.
When is vitamin C used in poultry?
Mainly during heat stress, transport and disease challenge, when the bird's own production may not meet demand.
