About this ingredient
Pea fibre is the insoluble fibre fraction recovered when peas are processed for starch or protein. It is a clean, pale, neutral tasting fibre with good water holding capacity.
It is used where a fibre source needs to be functional rather than merely bulky: to firm stools, to slow transit, or to carry moisture in a wet formulation. Being a pulse derived fibre it also suits grain free and limited ingredient positioning in pet food.
