Potassium diformate is a double salt of formic acid, developed as a non antibiotic performance enhancer for swine. It delivers formic acid in a form that is easier and safer to handle than the free acid, and it releases progressively along the gut rather than all at once in the stomach.

It lowers pH, suppresses coliforms and salmonella, and improves nutrient digestibility. It is one of the few feed additives with a substantial published record as a direct antibiotic growth promoter replacement in pigs.

Where it is used

  • Antibiotic free swine production
  • Piglet diets around weaning
  • Salmonella control programmes
  • Poultry diets, at adjusted inclusion

Formulation note

Potassium diformate is used mainly in piglet and grower pig diets. Set inclusion within your market's authorised range and allow for its potassium contribution in the electrolyte balance.
